Gold at National Masters Championship

Updated: Apr 4, 2019

Doncaster Rowing Club's Senior Men put themselves firmly in Rowing's national spotlight.

The decision taken a couple of years ago to provide a higher level of physical training , combined with technical coaching, paid dividends with success for the clubs 'A' quad at the British Masters Championships. The event, held in 2018 at the National Watersports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint near Nottingham, attracts some of the best Masters crews from the top clubs in the country.

The hard training in the gym and on the river, which included early starts on cold winter mornings, was fully put to the test, but the crew of Ed Bradley (stroke), Brian Smith, Richard Broom and Josh Cantrill fought off the challenge of some illustrious opposition to seal the win (much to the delight of the whole club, not least of coach Dave Maxfield).

Our Senior section is open to any adult member of the club wanting a wanting to test themselves in a more competitive environment.
