If you're looking for an incredible place to row, paddle, or simply enjoy nature, look no further than the 5-kilometer stretch of water right here in Doncaster! Our club is incredibly fortunate to have access to this beautiful waterway, flowing from Sprotbrough Locks all the way down to Doncaster Locks.
What makes this stretch so special? For starters, it offers incredibly sheltered waters, providing ideal conditions for all levels of rowers, from our Learn to Row beginners to our performance squads. Surprisingly, for such a glorious stretch of water, it has very little commercial traffic. You can really focus on your technique and enjoy a smooth glide across the water with almost no interuptions.
But it's not just about the rowing – it's about the surroundings. This part of the river is teeming with amazing wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready, as you're almost guaranteed to spot elegant herons standing majestically at the water's edge, or perhaps even catch a flash of iridescent blue as a kingfisher darts past.
